Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Can you give me examples of successful book self publishing?

I just self published my first book, “Top Gun Management” at Lulu.com and it ranks 5,883 in sales after two weeks. I wonder what kind of sales numbers successful books achieve. Information from people who have been there and done that would be appreciated.

Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip and book series, self-published an original ebook, God’s Debris, early in 2001 as a way of testing the market for a new book. As a result, he was able to get an “unusually good deal” from his regular publisher, Andrews McMeel, when he sold them the book rights.

In 1998, Arthur Agatston, author of The South Beach Diet, began by self-publishing several hundred pamphlets outlining his diet ideas for patients. Several years later, with the help of an agent, he sold rights to Rodale. Within a year, the book had sold almost seven million copies.

Julie Aigner-Clark founded the Baby Einstein company to produce early-learning videos, DVDs, and audio CDs for babies and toddlers. Many of the products feature poems written by her. The company has won many awards for its products and has sold more than 8 million copies of its videos and other products. In November 2001, she and her husband sold the company to Disney for $ 25 million.

Nigerian writer Christopher Albani was jailed in his home country for publishing some of his books. A number of his books were banned in Nigeria before he sold right to his first U.S. novel, GraceLand, to Farrar Straus Giroux with the aide of agent Sandy Dijkstra.

Craig Alesse began Amherst Media by self-publishing his own how-to photography books. His company is now one of the premiere how-to photography publishing companies in the world, distributing to photography stores across the country.

Debbie Allen sold 40,000 copies of her Confessions of Shameless Self Promoters and then sold reprint rights to McGraw-Hill. In addition, she sold rights to a new book, Positively Fearless Selling, to Dearborn Trade. An international speaker and consultant, she helps businesses to out-market, out-sell, and out-profit their competition.

Marc Allen, publisher of New World Library, chose to publish his own book, Visionary Business, after publishing many other bestselling titles, including Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

In 1962, trumpeter Herb Alpert and his partner Jerry Moss formed A&M records with $ 100 apiece. One of the first albums they produced was the gold-selling Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass’s Whipped Cream & Other Delights, a classic record of the mid-60s. They built A&M into the nation’s largest record company not owned by a conglomerate before finally selling out to Polygram in 1989 for $ 500 million.

Judith Appelbaum originally self-published How to Get Happily Published, then sold the rights to Harper Collins. The book has now been through many editions and has sold more than 500,000 copies.

Mary Appelhof self-published Worms Eat My Garbage. Her first edition sold more than 100,000 copies. In 1997, she published her second edition.

There have been only nine self published books that made it to the best seller list. Celestine Prophecy is the only title I recall. Quite honestly selling a couple hundred self published books is considered a success. That’s why most people don’t do it. But if you are happy with your sales figures. Congrats. Pax – C

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Someone explain the illuminati to me?

Okay so I’ve seen a lot of research done about symbolism with celebrities said to be a part of “the illuminati”. I don’t really get it…are they selling their souls to become famous? Do they get famous first and then sell their souls? Or do some of these celebrities star in music videos and movies unknowingly filled with illuminati symbolism/agenda? I also don’t understand what could be gained by controlling pop culture… Getting people to buy albums? Movies? Someone explain?

Answer by Paul
a secret organisation of the richest guys in the world who are meant to rule everything we say and do….they are there but they arn’t…..the are meant to orchestrate alot of events around the world…theres lots of good docs on..check the denver airport one out on youtube…awesome!!

Answer by Obi Wan Knievel
I absolutely love the illuminati! They are, beyond all doubt, the ultimate conspiracy theory.

They’re the secret one-world government that rules us all, and nobody knows who they are. You don’t ask to join them, you have to be invited. Everything about them is cloaked in absolute secrecy, and nobody who knows of them will ever breathe a word about their existence. They rule everything; national governments, churches, entertainment, you name it. They’re like Kaiser Soze, the computer behind The Matrix, the Galactic Empire and the Men In Black all put together, but without any actual names. They’re “them”, and their intentions are always sinister.

The illuminati (or new world order) is also full of impossible contradictions. Take a look…

They’re super-rich and incredibly greedy, but also communists. They’re above any one religion, but they’re also devoted satanists, catholics, jews and freemasons. They’re more powerful than every army in the world combined, but they’re still afraid to come out of hiding and annouce their iron-fisted rule over us. And even though they already rule us all, they need our unwitting support. The slightest fracture in their secrecy would bring their empire crumbling down all around them, whoever they are.

But even though they’re more secretive than the CIA and KGB, they leave little clues pointing to their existence everywhere. Secret symbols on your mustard jar, hidden messages in pop lyrics, and sublininal pictures everywhere. I guess it’s no fun keeping secrets secret, because those little buggers can’t resist leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for their fans (aka truthers) to follow.

Oh, and they never just do something the easy and logical way. Maybe that’s no fun either, because they do absolutely everything in the most complex and convoluted way anyone could ever imagine. And as soon as you think they couldn’t possibly get more people involved in their operations, they do. It’s just more fun that way, I guess.

Still think they really exist? Neither does anyone with any common sense. But they’re fun to think about.

Well there is a lot more to the Illuminati then the music industry or celebrity icons. In fact, that is a very small portion of what the Illuminati is.

The celebrities don’t sell their soul to the actual devil. The devil is a spiritual entity that has no connection with the physical world. It’s mainly used as a metaphor; they don’t sell their soul to the devil but to the Illuminati. Jay Z and Lady Gaga aren’t even part of the Illuminati, they just represent them in the music business.

The actual agenda of the Illuminati is played on the banking and political stage; most of the people don’t understand the monetary system and only halfway concur with politics. The Illuminati are the super rich people of this world that are in the highest positions in governments and business. Where most of the population live off of 1 dollar a day, these guys have an annual income of $ 20,000,000 give or take. The Illuminati own the banks, media, industry, etc. One of the biggest multi-media conglomerates is Vivindi, which owns Universal Studios, and by extension Universal Music Group. Some celebrities are predetermined to play the role and funded all the way to the top by these people. Inhanna was the Sumerian Goddess of sexuality, is it just a coincidence that Rihanna fell right into this standard? Jay Z is 1/3rd of the founder of Rock-A-Fella records, named after the Rockefeller bloodline, one of the head Illuminati families. He reached a certain level on his own but to function in this $ 20 million club, where they get away with snorting the most illegal of drugs and using children as prostitutes, his nephew was sacrificed for blackmail to bind him. But the reason why celebrities are a part of this is the immoral messages they give off to the public, like sexuality, violence and atheism.

As to what the Illuminati gain from it: I recall back in the early 2000’s where so many people were outraged with some of George Bush’s decisions and in an interview with Britney Spears she said “He’s our president and we should stand behind him.” The Icon Britney was at the time had to influence some people’s way of thinking in some way. The Illuminati’s main agenda is on the political field.

I think one of the main reasons that so much of the Illuminati videos you’ll see revolves around celebrities is because it’s a source of disinformation. Most of the younger generation just don’t get into politics so when they hear about the Illuminati they’ll automatically associate it with the music industry, they’ll often fail to make the connection between music and politics. There really is no connection unless you treat the music industry like a business. It has a board of members and is out to gain money and if you follow the chain of ownership connections will be made.

There’s also the instance where Kanye West often had people put their diamonds up; they’re making a symbol that resembles a pyramid. Well symbols have esoteric and exoteric meaning, where the Illuminati are the only ones to understand the esotericism in it. So whichever hand symbols the people hold up, if it’s Illuminati related it’s like they’re saluting something they don’t even know about. Where people give off so much positive energy from all this, it works kinda the way prayer does. When we pray for people we’re focalizing our positive energy onto them; in this instance it’s the Illuminati reaping the positive energy from people.

Other then that the music industry brings in a lot of money, which is why they’ve assumed control over it and in doing so they’re having their version of fun by putting out their symbol or leaving a signature in plain sight of people thinking we don’t notice.

When you see this type of thing in movies it’s usually because the director has some knowledge of the occult underworld; like Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut”, the whole underworld orgy scene is something they do. In fact Kubrick died 4 days before the film was released and some scenes were removed by the executives of Warner Brothers Studios. The “Knowing” called the BP Oil spill 13 months before hit happened. Who owns BP? The Rockefeller Family.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Why does “cause and effect” not apply to America?

Americans are quick to point out the effects, but if you start talking about the causes that led to the effects, you are some kind of sympathizer, conspiracy theorist or just don’t know what you’re talking about despite the facts it’s simple math.

Specifics?

Answer by Tetsu Inoue
“Specifics?”

Terrorism (the cause being excessive foreign intervention in the Middle East) for example.

No matter how knowledgeable and neutral you are on a subject, there will always be a zillion people out there who will disagree with you and shoot you down.

Answer by xu
Whine, whine whine. There’s lot’s of cause and effect but the world is a complex matrix and not a linear process so what one person says is the cause and effect another will deny because they will say the cause was something else.

For example, was Hitler’s rise to power the fault of the Treaty of Versailles or the weak leadership of Chamberlain?

Answer by Financial Terrorist
Because anything to do with central banking is obviously a conspiracy. Bernanke is an angel.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.

Answer by Leslie Goudy
That would be the Fall of the treaty of Versailles that Hitler caused by shutting out the banks. Chamberlain? Give me a break. Sounds like typical propaganda to me. Of course it applies to America but we have this squeaky clean image of the benevolent liberal angel that drops billions other countries yet screams about a billion on her own poor. That “protects democracy” by imperialistic military policing with an unending credit line from the Fed for that that the public debt carry’s.

How can their be cause and effect when the country has a split level consciousness about historical fact. I have never seen so much bs as in an American History Book. Sickening

Answer by Matthew
Whoa, slow down there, Speed Racer. Most people can just manage to wrap their minds around conceiving of effect and now you want them to think about cause too? Do mean both at the same time? Good luck with that considering the current state of edjumacation and society. To call people sheep is an insult to sheep.

The average person, especially Americans, have had education shoved at them to be accepted at face value and which does not thoroughly enough address the vital skill of critical thinking. This video offers a good deal of insight on the subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U .

As it happens, an engineer by the name of Hubbard, from pre-WW 2 to the 1980’s, using scientific method, thoroughly investigated sociology (psychology, the mind, politics, group activity, logic, philosophy, educational methodology, what drives man, etc.) consolidated existing ideas and discovered new ones, based on value of workability, many of which are mind-blowing, yet largely unknown on a societal level, breakthroughs. This fellow is no less than the best qualities of a modern-day Buddha, Einstein and Plato/Aristotle/Socrates that was an advance to the convoluted field that Freud barely touched on in the way that an airliner is a travel advance from a horse, yet is the most poorly understood/completely misunderstood public figure in history at the moment. The fact that Hubbard’s evidence led down the road to religion is the mathematical inevitability of an investigation of man as thought, and is the main source of fuel of his critics. But regardless of veracity, Hubbard’s advances and ideas, including his spiritual religious ones are a polar opposite to modern education and religion, which both typically force un-inspected ideas upon the individual and ask for faith (of which there is nothing wrong with, in and of itself,) in that Hubbard recommends that all ideas (anywhere) must be weighted, evaluated and compared by the individual before being accepted as true. In other words, his suggestions wake people up by proposing, not demanding, that people should think for themselves (Buddha also said this.)

The reason Hubbard is defamed in the media is the same reason that education is the way it is, that spurious “reasons” exist to impel us into war, why you can’t legally cure cancer or depression, the JFK/Lincoln assassinations, why nutritionists are perceived as quacks and doctors gods and economic depressions. It’s the logical, mathematical outcome of a conflict. The opponents/oppositional ideas of money scams are defamed by the scammers in order to keep up public opinion of the status quo so that the scams can continue. Freedom is largely a fiction, deceptively sold to the masses by those who actually have it. Many publicly accepted institutions, such as modern medicine and psychiatry (a pseudo-science http://www.cchrint.org/pdfs/Pseudoscience.pdf ) which are regarded as experts in their respective fields, often sell snake oil to an obliging public for the simple reason that neither the experts nor the public had properly evaluated as true or false the suppositions proposed to them. Twain said it best regarding religion and politics but it applies to assumption on any subject: “In religion and politics people’s beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”

George Carlin said it in his “Life is Worth Loosing” HBO special http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acLW1vFO-2Q . Mark Twain had numerous political quotes including: “When politics enter into municipal government, nothing resulting therefrom in the way of crimes and infamies is then incredible. It actually enables one to accept and believe the impossible…” And there are many other similarly denouncing quotes from famous minds over the centuries. Zeitgeist 1, 2, 3 give a fairly thorough insight to this. Even “Food Inc.” & “Food Matters” contain evidence that, considered with all of the above, allude to the idea of a monopolistic collusion of major players in business, who in fact own the media, use it as a propaganda mouthpiece, and direct all important action on a legal and governmental level through the use of financial coercion, dog and pony shows or threats & murder. Always follow the money and it will answer questions that you didn’t even know were worth asking.

“The time is fast approaching when to call a man a patriot will be the deepest insult you can offer him. Patriotism now means advocating plunder in the interest of the privileged classes of the particular State system into which we have happened to be born.” -Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
