Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Do you believe that some people are psychic?

There is a TV program called psychic detectives. The police sometimes ask such a psychic for help solving a crime. Do you think it’s true? Another program is about psychic reading. The public can call in and ask about their future. Do you think they can predict your future, marriage life, job prospects and so on?

Answer by Reely reely Dont care
no but i believe a lot of people are psychotic

To an extent, yes. Not, some, though. Only a handful of. But, I’m not always sure about the people on TV. I have to see it in person for me to believe. I mean, I think there are plenty of people out there who are very intuitive (I consider myself pretty intuitive), but true psychics are a rarer breed.

I think that, yeah, they can predict the future. My great aunt, for example, could read tea leaves with scary accuracy. She stopped, though, after she made the prediction and saw the death of her unborn grandchild. But, again, I think this is a one in a million sort of thing and not something always portrayed truthfully on TV.

Have you ever asked yourself why you find things like this so fascinating? The reason, I suspect, is because down inside you feel uncertain and nervous about the future and think these things might help you feel more confident.

But this is precisely why I urge you to put your trust in God alone for the future. As I have often said, predictions like these about the future are almost never on target (or else they are too vague to really mean anything). Why build your life around them or get your guidance from them? They are only a substitute for the guidance you really need—which is from God.

My other concern, however, is one that I hope you will take very seriously. These things may seem innocent and amusing at first—but it’s easy to get more and more fascinated with them, and eventually become involved in occult practices that are not from God.

Don’t be misled: Occult practices are not from God, but from spiritual forces opposed to God. Instead, put your faith and trust in Christ. When we know Him, we know we are safely in His hands no matter what the future holds. The Bible is right: “When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists … should not a people inquire of their God?” (Isaiah 8:19).

There is a million dollars waiting for the first person to do this. Offered for over twelve year and no one has come close. All we have are people that say they are and we know that make it true. Does that mean if I say so, that makes me psychic? Remember Sylvia Browne failing a few years ago?

Just one person simply proving what they claim, would be historic. Bigger than man landing on the moon. Having an advantage and not making money with it is a waste. The gambling industry is not worried, they look for cheaters.

It has also been argued that if psychic power existed, to use it would be “a gross and unethical violation of privacy” and “professions that involve deception would be worthless”. There wouldn’t be any need for undercover work or spies. Every child molester would be identified immediately. No double agent could ever get away with it. Psychics would be in demand for high paying jobs in banks, businesses and government. “Most psychics would be very, very rich….” and since psychics are such altruistic persons, giving up their time to help others talk to the deceased or figure out what to do with their lives, they would be winning lotteries right and left and giving part of their winnings to help the needy. We wouldn’t need trials of accused persons: psychics could tell us who is guilty and who is not. The polygraph would be a thing of the past. Of course, the operative word here is if. If psychic power existed the world would be very different.

“We discovered that the work of the psychics was not just ludicrous and laughable. it was sinister and evil….None of it ever led anywhere except to despair and disappointment, misery and confusion.” –John Tate, father of Genette Tate who disappeared in 1978 (quoted in Investigating the Unexplained, p. 42)

EVERYBODY has that ability, you just need to listen to your “gut instinct”. Listening to my own instinct has never swayed me wrong. Once, when I was a teen, leaving a friend’s house, before I drove out of her driveway, I heard a voice (in my head) say, “Lock your doors.” I have to tell you, I never ever locked my car doors, but instinct told me to listen. So I reached over and locked both doors. Minutes later, maybe just a couple of miles from my parent’s house, I was at a light on a busy intersection and this young guy with crazy eyes was yelling at cars, staring down people and sure enough, he came to my passenger door and pulled the handle. I freaked, looked at the light and it was green, but the old lady in front of me wasn’t paying attention! So I honked at her to go. He then, slapped at my car window and I honked again and FINALLY, she went. The light turned yellow on her, but I was right behind her. That was the scariest thing to ever happen to me, and when I got home, I started shaking. Realizing what could have happened to me. I’m thankful that I listened to that “voice”. I’ll never forget it. I never did and I’m 51 years old.
