Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : What system of tarot cards is a good start for use in divination?

How do you use tarot cards with ritual magick to ensure that the end result will be what is desired?

Answer by Lightning
You can get a deck from a bookstore, usually they’ll come with a book on how to interpret the deck. Sometimes the book will include some basic spreads, sometimes you might have to find that elsewhere. You could get a deck from a New Age shop, but it’ll be infused with other people’s energy; the friend who taught me tarot recommends ordering online because then you know you’re the first person to touch the cards. You need to attune to your deck, and then it’s just a matter of focus and being open to what the cards are telling you.

Edit: Pick a deck that appeals to you. If the deck doesn’t resonate with you, you won’t be able to get a good read on it.

You don’t need tarot cards, you only need Jesus.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” -James 1:5

I’m not sure what you’re asking… Do you mean which deck to start lerning tarot divination with? Your details talk about ritual magic, so not really sure what it is you’re looking for. Ritual magic isn’t necessarily divination.

For learning divination with tarot – I would recommend to start learning with a more standard deck like the Rider Waite (or one of it’s color variations like Radiant Rider Waite.) Though I took tarot classes from a couple of experienced readers, I found working through this book and its exercises with my deck to help a lot also:

Once you are well versed in a standard deck, it’s easier to adapt to other decks that might appeal to you. While I still use my Rider Waite, I more so use my Sacred Circle because its Celtic theme and artwork appeals to me.

As far as ritual magic…it isn’t the tool that ensures the end result. The tools you use are simply focus aids for you to keep your intentions clear and your will and energy directed to the desired end result. Once you learn the cards it will be easier for you to determine how to incorporate them into your magical workings if you wish.

I have to disagree with answer 1. If you’re buying a new tarot deck, unopened box, it doesn’t matter whether it comes from a large chain bookstore, a new age shop, or Amazon.com. It doesn’t really matter if other people have touched the cards. (Just because they’re packaged when you get them doesn’t mean someone didn’t touch them in the manufacturing process.) Plenty of other people have touched my tarot cards in looking at them and admiring the images. When I sit down to do a working or reading with them, I am focusing my energy on my question or intention, and it makes no difference whether someone else touched my cards earlier or not. If you really were worried about others having handled your cards, you can “cleanse” them by passing them through a cleansing incense smoke like sage.

It depends on what brand of ritual magick you are following. The Tarot is used for meditation and “pathworking” in high ceremonial magic, not divination exactly. The two main decks are the Rider-Waite deck and its variations, which is probably the best to use also if you want to practice divination with cards. The images are generally illustrative of what the cards traditionally mean. It was designed by people affiliated with the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The other most important deck among Hermetic ceremonial magicians is the Thoth Deck, reverred by people who follow Thelema, a magical religion started by Aleister Crowley. Check out neognostica.blogpspot–the blog of a friend who had written a lot about the Thoth deck and planetary magic (a little to unnecessarily complex for me but you might take an interest).

Ceremonialists pair the cards in the decks with the with planets, signs of the zodiac, and Hebrew letters that have symbolic meaning and other correspondences.

To use the cards for fortune telling, first become familiar with the standard meanings of all the cards, which are in lots of books and Web sites. Then practice looking at each card one by one and asking it to tell its story to you. You need to know what the standard meaning of the card is and also what the card specifically means to you. Then you layout some speads of cards and see if you can find a story in the spread. The cards aren’t “magical”; the cards help you focus and shift your consciousness so that you can be energetically and intuitively open to the person you are reading cards for.

What other people do with their lives is none of your business.

That said, the tarot spread depicts your state of mind when you are thinking about those other people. And looking at the spread, I know that you habour either envy or hate for one of them.

Answer by Corey
Nothing, they’re just cards with odd pictures. They’re not supernatural.

Whatever you suspect probably has a better than average chance of being accurate. Well, at least to the point of (him) being interested in (her). Unless you yourself are interested in either (him) or (her), people who have crushes have a lot of wishful thinking and self-doubt that can confuse noticing how people react to each other, when their crush is involved.

If they’re in a relationship, don’t meddle.

Since the age of 9 years old I have had dreams, visions and heard voices. At that young age I became frightened and was not sure what to think of all this. Lucky for me my Grandmother and Mother were Psychic as well and helped me identify my abilities and truly hone in on what I was capable of doing. Once I was able to grasp everything that was coming towards me, I began helping people and I have not looked back since.
