“Mr. Crowley” is a 1980 heavy metal song performed by Ozzy Osbourne, released on the album Blizzard of Ozz, Osbourne’s first solo effort following his firing from Black Sabbath. It peaked at #46 on the UK charts. Musicians playing on the song are guitarist Randy Rhoads, bass guitarist Bob Daisley, and drummer Lee Kerslake. Don Airey plays the song’s distinctive funeral organ introduction.

This song and “Crazy Train” were released as singles.

The second guitar solo in “Mr. Crowley” is ranked number 28 on Guitar World Magazine’s poll of the “100 greatest guitar solos”. According to band mythology, Osbourne was not happy with the first solo that Randy Rhoads recorded for the song. Rhoads angrily returned to the studio and played the famous solo. Afterwards, he stormed out and sarcastically asked Osbourne how that solo was. Osbourne smiled and said: “This is it!”.

The song was inspired by books about Aleister Crowley which Ozzy Osbourne had read and a deck of tarot cards that were found in the studio.

The song’s lyrical content arguably indicates that the lyricist had little familiarity with Aleister Crowley or his philosophies. While the lyrics ask “did you talk with the dead?”, Crowley, who called himself the “wickedest man alive”, himself did believe in reincarnation, but was an atheist who believed in neither God nor Satan. Despite this, another lyric states that Crowley “waited on Satan’s call”.

Additionally, Ozzy Osbourne mispronounces Crowley’s surname; the proper pronunciation Crōw’-lee.

Noted covers include Moonspell (Darkness and Hope, 2001) and Cradle of Filth (Nymphetamine Special Edition, 2005). Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens; Ronnie James Dio singing on back-up vocals, (with Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar), Joe Lynn Turner, George Lynch and The Cardigans have also recorded covers of the song.

Also, in the game Guilty Gear XX, the character I-No plays part of the ending solo to “Mr. Crowley” as one of her win poses.

It is also a playable song in the 2008 music rhythm video game Guitar Hero World Tour, along with “Crazy Train.”

There is also a character found in the game Fallout 3 called Mr. Crowley, a reference to the song.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : I need to know about tarot cards?

Hi I don’t know anything about tarot readings but I need to know about it for a book i’m writing for school. I want to how fortune tellers pick the cards (it would be great if you can find a video) and I also need to know the worst cards and what they mean thanks!

Answer by Iron_Plague
They don’t “pick the cards” the cards are shuffled and are drawn.

If 20 people answer, you’ll have 20 different ways to read Tarot cards.
The simplest way is to shuffle, cut twice, then take from the top. That’s how I always did it when I studied Wicca. You could also shuffle, cut twice, spread all the cards out and pick which ones you’re drawn to. If you’re reading for a person, you can pick out one card (usually from the major arcana) to represent that person before shuffling. I never did that, I thought I might need the card in the deck for the reading.

There are many layouts to choose from, some for a particular question, or some for general readings.

There are no best and worst cards. Each card has a negative meaning and a positive meaning, depending on which way it is dealt. Some cards are good upright and bad upside down, some are the opposite, while some are always neutral, but some people don’t consider different meanings if the cards are upside down.
Death is NOT a bad card, it does not mean imminent physical death; it represents change.

Answer by Nightwind: Mwa ha ha!
There’s a wide variety of spreads for tarot cards. One of the simplest is simply three cards representing past,, present and future.

The Tower is arguably the worst card in the whole deck. major destruction or upheaval.

A GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING, USING AND WORKING WITH TAROT
Step one – Choosing a pack
The first step to reading Tarot cards is to buy a pack that you are attracted to. There are 78 cards in most tarot packs. So they take a long time to learn and you must have a lot of patience and you must practice with them quite a lot, but do not worry its well worth it! The first pack I ever received was the mythic pack. Choosing the right Tarot Deck can be like finding the right mate. The Tarot is a deeply personal journey that each person takes in his or her own time. Often, you hear it said that one could only be given a deck. While it is certainly wonderful to receive such a meaningful gift from a close friend, I feel that it is equally important to seek out your own Tarot deck, one that suits your personal tastes. Whether it is based on Celtic mythology, feminist art, or Native American culture, finding the “right” Tarot deck can often take years of searching. When you find that deck, you will feel as though you have come home. The imagery of the particular representation of Tarot symbolism you choose will resonate deep within your soul. You can choose and purchase a pack of tarot cards from a new age shop, local psychic fairs, or even on-line.
Step two – looking after your cards
When you have purchased the tarot cards, you intend to use, either buy/make a special box, bag or just a square piece of black velvet or silk material. This is to keep your tarot cards clean and free from outside influences. The tarot cards must not be touched or used by anyone else unless you are reading their fortune, they are yours and yours alone. Now you are ready to learn!
Step three – what tarot cards are for? and how they work?
A deck of picture cards – the question becomes – what can we do with them?
Use tarot cards to gain amazing insights about the past, present and future.
Consider for a moment a card in the tarot deck. As I look at a card, I begin to create a story around the image. What I have done is take an open-ended image and project a story onto it. To me, my view is the obvious one – the only possible interpretation of this scene. In fact, someone else could have imagined a totally different story. The point is that of all possible stories, I chose a certain one.
They offer insight into your love life, your career, difficult decisions, the next twelve months, your past lives, or other matters close to your heart. Tarot cards are used as a tool to get insights into a person’s past, present and future. Most tarot packs are like playing cards; the cards have pictures on them and a description of what they are called. When a person seeks answers they usually go to a tarot consultant (psychic, gypsy etc) the tarot consultant will ask the seeker to shuffle, the cards and think of the things they need to know. The tarot consultant will then spread the cards along the table and ask the seeker to pick a certain number of cards. Then they are placed into a spread; this will be explained in more detail later. The consultant will then look at the cards, and depending on where they are in the spread with be able to tell the seeker what he/she sees for that person. Every card has a few meanings, so it does depend in which order you pull the cards, to what they mean. You can use the book you get with your cards to interpret the meanings. However, I want to show you how to use your feelings to read the cards, but it does not hurt to refer back to the book if you are stuck
Step four – Learning the meanings
I could just type all the meanings in here for you, but I am not going to because I actually think its the worst way to learn, so I am going to tell you how to learn.
The best way is to learn the cards on a daily basis, which seems a lot of hard work but it will be well worth it in the end. Start to learn the cards one by one. I want you to concentrate on a different card each day, you will soon become very familiar with the cards this way. This will take you a minimum of nearly three months to do but you will know the tarot deck very well when you have finished, and has I always say you only get from your cards what you put into them!
I want you to start off with the major arcana first and pick one card each day to learn. To start off choose a card, look at the image for a while on the card and ask yourself these questions.
What story do I see in the picture? how does this card make me feel?
Does this card make me feel good or bad ? what could this card mean?
Feel the card.
If you wish after you have done this go to the tarot book you got with your cards and compare these to your impressions. . At first you feel you need to look at the meaning in the information books that come with your cards, but that is ok! if you wish to you can, write a little clue in pencil at the bottom of the card to jog your memory.
Do not be concerned if your ideas do not match the book. Your intuition is working and already giving you some unique insights! You can repeat this exercise with as many cards as you like. Be open to the possibility that you may develop your own ideas about these cards and what they mean.
Step five – how to make a spread
Depending on which spread you decide to use will depend on how many cards you will ask the client to pick out, start off using small spreads and then work your way up.
Different spreads:
If the person just wants to ask you a question you can use a three cards spread.
This just tells you past, present and future.
The Celtic cross, this is a 10 card spread.
Astrological spread, this is a monthly spread, 12 card spread.
The Spread
A spread is a preset pattern for laying out the tarot cards. It defines how many cards to use, where each one goes, and what each one means. A spread is a template guiding the placement of the cards so they can shed light on a given topic. It is within this template that the meanings of the cards come together so beautifully.
After the seeker has shuffled and cut the deck, the reader lays out the chosen cards in a pattern called a spread. Each position in the spread has a meaning, and each card has a meaning as well. The reader combines these two meanings to shed light on the seeker’s question.
Step six – tips
Interpreting time in tarot cards
Years are indicated by a pentacle
Months are indicates by a sword
Weeks are indicated by a wand
Days are indicated by a cup.
Wands
The Wands are the suit of creativity, action and movement. They are associated with such qualities as enthusiasm, adventure, risk-taking and confidence.
Cups
The Cups are the suit of emotions and spiritual experience. They describe inner states, feeling and relationship patterns. The energy of this suit flows inward.
Swords
The Swords are the suit of intellect, thought and reason. They are concerned with justice, truth and ethical principles. This suit is also associated with states that lead to disharmony and unhappiness. Our intellect is a valuable asset, but as an agent of ego, it can lead us astray if it is not infused with the wisdom of our Inner Guide.
Pentacles
The Pentacles are the suit of practicality, security and material concerns. In Pentacles, we celebrate the beauty of nature, our interactions with plants and animals and our physical experiences in the body. Pentacles also represent prosperity and wealth of all kinds. Sometimes this suit is called the Coins, an obvious symbol of the exchange of goods and services in the physical world.
A major arcana card is always given extra weight in a reading. When one of these cards appears, you know the issues at stake are not mundane or temporary. They represent your most basic concerns – your major feelings and motivations. A major arcana card represents an energy that is deep, strong, decisive or long-term. When a major arcana card appears in a reading, you have tapped into a powerful energy in some area of the seekers life.
The minor arcana cards do not carry the same weight, has the major arcana but they are still important.

Answer by Rev. Lynn D.
Each reader has there own way of doing a spread. I have my client shuffle the cards for about one minute so the cards will pick up their energy. They then hand the cards to me and I do a celtic cross spread.

The worst cards in the deck are the sword cards and The Tower is bad but good. It means major problems but that upheaval starts a new beginning.
